Biography

Dr. Aman Karim is an Associate Professor, Acting Head of the Department of Biological Sciences and Head of the Natural Product Research Section at the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Pakistan. He earned his PhD in Chemistry (Natural Products) from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, completing part of his doctoral research at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.

Following his postdoctoral research in phytochemistry at Aga Khan University, he served as Associate Professor of Phytochemistry at Mekelle University, Ethiopia, before joining NUMS. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Washington State University, USA, and is a member of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), Germany.

Dr. Karim’s research focuses on the biological evaluation of natural products and the development of evidence-based herbal therapeutics, particularly for anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic applications. He collaborates extensively with herbal industries, supervises postgraduate researchers and contributes to multiple research grants focused on herbal product innovation and development.

Beyond academia, he is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and is a co-founder of Zero Waste Alliance Pakistan (ZWAP), an initiative promoting zero-waste principles across communities. His passion for nature, travel and plant-based remedies continues to inspire both his scientific and community engagement efforts.
