Biography
Dr. Humayun Shafique Satti is an Assistant Professor at the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), where he has been serving since 2018. Prior to joining NUMS, he worked as a Scientific Officer at the Stem Cell Research Laboratory of the Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Centre, Rawalpindi. His research focuses on clinical genetics and stem cell biology, particularly mesenchymal stem cells and their therapeutic applications.
Dr. Satti completed his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, where he investigated the therapeutic potential of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and spinal cord injury. His work has resulted in more than thirty publications in national and international scientific journals.
His expertise also includes clinical genetics, genetics of hematological and recessive disorders, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, RNA expression studies and molecular diagnostics. He currently leads multiple research projects funded by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Pakistan Science Foundation and collaborates on large-scale international population studies including UK Biobank, ALSPAC and Born in Bradford, applying machine learning approaches to investigate complex disease phenotypes.
