Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin being the President of the Aga Khan University (AKU) is leading an institution with over 3,700 students across three continents and seven hospitals serving two million patients annually. An accomplished healthcare leader, he previously served as Regional CEO of the Aga Khan Health Services in East Africa, where he expanded access to care, secured nearly $150 million in funding, and implemented successful public-private partnerships. Under his leadership, AKU has achieved international recognition for excellence in education, research, and healthcare, and played a pivotal role in humanitarian efforts, including during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 floods. Dr. Shahabuddin holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, an MSc in Sustainable Development from Imperial College London/SOAS University, and a Doctorate in Health Administration from Central Michigan University. He has also been honored with Pakistan’s Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his outstanding contributions to education and healthcare.
